The city Planning Board on Tuesday denied a brokers plans to sell used vehicles from a Coffeen Street property.
D. Scott Gerni, a broker with Clear Choice Homes, 816 Coffeen St., wanted to sell no more than three vehicles from a back parking lot at the two-family house, but city planners were worried about traffic and parking problems that the part-time business could cause.
By a 4-1 vote, the Planning Board voted against recommending a special permit to Mr. Gerni, who told the planners he had the idea for selling used vehicles for about 10 years and did not think the business would interfere with the neighborhood.
Basically, Im looking to dabble with car sales, he said, adding he would sell such upscale vehicles as BMWs and Mercedes-Benzes.
But planners contended it would cause too many vehicles entering and exiting the site.
The matter will go before the City Council on Sept. 19.
