To The Editor:
This letter is meant to warn the residents living along the Racquette River behind West Hatfield Street, of a predator.
Aug. 30, between 5 and 5:30 a.m. I was walking my dog, going toward the river. I was observing a yellow tiger cat going in and out of a fallen tree in my sisters, Willa Murphy, and brother-in-laws, Pat Murphy, yard.
All of a sudden, out of the sky at a rapid speed, came an eagle which pounced on the poor cat.
My dog tried desperately to break away to asist the cat but I pulled her and ran back into my house. I called my sister but when I went back outside, the eagle and cat were gone.
It was the most harrowing but yet awesome experience. I am sorry someone lost a pet. People, if you love your pets, be aware of your surroundings. There are owls, hawks, and eagles hunting along the river.
