LOWVILLE Police agencies late last week harvested more than 200 marijuana plants from wooded areas in the towns of West Turin and Croghan.
It was a good haul, said Dale W. Roberts, senior investigator at the Lewis County Sheriffs Department, noting it was all done in a single day. Somebodys going to have a bad Christmas.
The plants, amounting to 520 pounds of the drug, were taken as evidence, and an investigation is continuing, with arrests expected, according to a Sheriffs Department release.
The harvest was a joint effort of the Sheriffs Department, state police aviation and Community Narcotics Enforcement Team units and state forest rangers.
As fall approaches, more harvests are expected, the release adds.
