St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES is selling its Ogdensburg satellite building for $250,000.
The two-story, 26,848-square-foot Washington Education Center on 1.33 acres at 616 Rensselaer Ave. is no longer needed for office, administrative and program functions now that BOCES had it all moved to its headquarters in Canton.
Bruyere Chadwick Realty sales associate James J. Chadwick said Thursday that the building has undergone much renovation including a new roof, a finished basement, a newly-paved 56-space parking lot and handicapped access.
Theres been a lot of work done to it over the years, he said. I think its better-suited for office use.
Built in 1928 as the Washington Elementary School, it remained a school until 1978 when it closed and was bought by the former Mater Dei College, town of Oswegatchie, which used the building for offices and an Ogdensburg satellite campus.
The property is assessed by the city of Ogdensburg for $311,800.
