Elizabeth A. Evans Monaco


Elizabeth A. Evans Monaco, 95, of Superior Street, passed away September 4, 2013 at the Samaritan Medical Center.

Mrs. Monaco was born August 9, 1918, a daughter of Ethni H. and Anna O’Connor Evans. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1937.On April 10, 1948 she married Frank Monaco at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Reverend Joseph A. Francoeur officiating. Mr. Monaco died in October of 1958. Mrs. Monaco was a supervisor for the New York Telephone Company from 1938-1981. Mrs. Monaco spent winters in Daytona Beach for thirty years and summers at Pillar Point.

Mrs. Monaco was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Immaculate Conception in Brownville and Our Lady of Hope Church and their Altar Rosary Society in Port Orange, FL. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, American Legion Auxiliary, the Rustic Golf Club and Watertown Golf Club. She enjoyed bowling and was one of the 600 Club Lady Bowlers. She was the chairman of her last class reunion in 1998. Mrs. Monaco’s family would like to thank her caregivers for all of the great care they gave her over the past year.

Surviving are a son and his wife Peter E. and Brenda, Watertown, three step grandchildren, Kristy Glenn, Jason Favret and Jeffrey Favret and two step great grandchildren. A brother Leo E. Evans died before her.

Calling hours will be Sunday 2-5 pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be held Monday at 10 am at the funeral home with an 11am funeral mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Brownville with Reverend Michael Gaffney. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be made to
