Salmon River went the distance with Tupper Lake 3-2 and Malone took care of Brushton-Moira 3-0 in Northern Athletic Conference Volleyball action on Friday evening.
Raven Oakes (19 service points, 8 aces), Raylynn Sunday (14 service points, 6 aces), Brittany Brooks (10 service points) and Dominique Jacobs (7 service points) paced the Shamrocks over the Lumberjacks.
The Huskies used wins of 25-19, 25-5, 25-17
Offensively, the Huskies were led by the play of seniors Janel Heden and Rachel Lamica. Heden served up 20 points with 13 aces while Lamica collected 16 service points with nine aces. The two FA players combined for 16 kills with the taller Lamica powering 13 balls over the net.
Whitney Legacy added a seven-point, four-ace, three-kill effort as Karissa Beaudry and Brooke Peck combined for 23 assists – 13 and 10, respectively.
Emily OConnor paced BMC (0-1) at the service line with 10 points, three aces, while Courtney Holcomb added six points to the Panther effort. Alexandra Hooker had six kills during the season-opening setback.
