Cummings delivers winner for Madrid-Waddington

POTSDAM — Mike Cummings scored in the 69th minute to give Madrid-Waddington a 2-1 victory over Colton-Pierrepont in a semifinal of the John Jeffers Tournament at Potsdam High School.

Madrid-Waddington will play Malone for the championship at 11 a.m., and Potsdam will meet Colton-Pierrepont in the consolation game at 11 a.m.

Jeff Mott tied the game for the Yellow Jackets (1-0) in the 59th minute on a penalty kick.

Scott Boyce scored for the Colts (0-1) in the seventh minute.

MALONE 5, POTSDAM 0

Alex Johnson and Kody Mulverhill both scored two goals as the Huskies blanked the Sandstoners (0-1) in the other John Jeffers Tournament game.

Daniel Badgley also scored for Malone (1-1). Austin Lamay made 10 saves for Malone.

MASSENA 7, HERMON-DEKALB 0

Dillon Stone and Dalton Mullin each scored twice to lead Massena past Hermon-DeKalb (0-2) in a semifinal game of the Massena Tournament.

Massena (1-0) will meet Parishville-Hopkinton in the championship game at 7 tonight and Hermon-DeKalb will face Salmon River in the consolation game at 4 p.m.

Forest Brockway, Ryan Moffitt and Zack Koszan also scored for Massena, and Brendan Broderick made four saves for the shutout.

PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTOn 3, SALMON RIVER 1

Anthony Pullano, Joey Jacot and Connor Sullivan scored for Parishville-Hopkinton (1-0) in a win over Salmon River in the Massena Tournament.

Austin LaRue scored for the Shamrocks (1-2).

GENERAL BROWN 3, CARTHAGE 1

Cole Johnson scored a game-tying goal for the Lions in the first half, and General Brown went on to secure a Frontier League crossover victory at Carthage.

VOLLEYBALL

MALONE 3, BRUSHTON-MOIRA 0

Rachel Lamica scored 16 service points, including nine aces, and added 13 kills as Malone earned a 25-19, 25-5, 25-17 sweep of Brushton-Moira (0-1) in Brushton. Janelle Heden added 20 points and 13 aces for Malone (1-0).

GIRLS SWIMMING

SOUTH JEFFERSON 105, MEXICO 81

Hannah Markey was a part of four wins to help guide the Spartans to a season-opening nonleague victory on Thursday in Adams.

Markey captured the 100-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke and swam on the first-place freestyle relays.

Amy Johnson claimed the 50 free and contributed to a relay win for South Jefferson.

Jane Pritchard took the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly and swam on a victorious relay for Mexico.
