CAPE VINCENT — Two inmates at Cape Vincent Correctional Facility were charged Thursday morning with possessing various types of contraband.

State police said Hector Rodriguez, 45, whose residence was listed as the prison, defecated a 2-inch red balloon containing 26 pills of the painkiller Suboxone. Police also found a 1.75-inch triangular piece of plexiglass in the locker of Corey Cox, 24, also with a jail address listing.

Both men, charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband about 10:50 a.m. Thursday, were arraigned at Town Court and returned to the prison.
