OGDENSBURG — The state Division of Veterans Affairs office will open today at its new location, 209 Ford St. The office formerly was on the second floor of theSt. Lawrence-Lewis Board of Cooperative Educational Services satellite building, the Washington Education Center, at 616 Rensselaer Ave.

“It’s a very suitable location,” said Thomas Robinson, the office’s director. “One level and no stairs.”

The agency’s next-door neighbor and landlord is the Wallace E. Rock Amvets Post 19.

Both agencies agree that they make a good fit.

“They’ve been very supportive,” Mr. Robinson said.

“We’re proud to have them,” Post 19 Commander Donald B. Cooke said.

Both men agreed that the downtown location is conveniently lnear City Hall, banks and motor vehicles and Social Security offices.

“Everything is within walking distance,” Mr. Cooke said.

The office’s hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The telephone number is 393-0580.
