M-W boys outscore P-H, C-P outlasts B-M for NAC East wins


Madrid-Waddington outlasted Parishville-Hopkinton 4-3 while Colton-Pierrepont turned back Brushton-Moira 1-0 in double overtime in NAC East Division varsity boys soccer matchups on Monday.

M-W 4, P-H 3: In Parishville, senior Jeff Mott capped an impressive outing for the visiting Yellowjackets (2-1-0, 2-0-0) when he converted on a direck kick from just outside the penalty area with 8:22 left in regulation for his fourth goal of the game in sparking the win.

The Panthers had opened the scoring 23 minutes into the game when Anthony Pullano converted off an assist from Wyatt Snell. Mott pulled M-W even with an unassisted strike six minutes later before Snell put P-H back on top with just 17 seconds left in the opening half off assisted by Joey Jacot.

The duo of Mott and Tyler Robinson combined to produce the tying and go-ahead goals for the Yellowjackets in the seventh and 15th minutes of the second half before Lucas Snell knotted the game at 3-3 off an assist from Jacob with 17:34 remaining.

T.J. Gagnon handled six shots working the M-W crease for the win while Colby Wells tallied eight saves backstopping the P-H (2-1-0, 0-1-0) cause.

C-P 1, B-M 0: At Swift Field in South Colton, John Angleberger finished off a play set up by Ethan Knight and Scott Boyce three minutes into the second 10-minute overtime session to lift the Colts to their first win of the season.

Bruce Avery stood tall working the C-P crease for 12 saves to earn the shutout while Taylor Tallman posted three stops for the Panthers, who were making their season debut.

In the other two East Division games on Monday, Chateaugay dropped St. Lawrence Central 7-1 and St. Regis Falls denied Norwood-Norfolk 1-0.

Chateaugay 7, SLC 1: In Brasher Falls, the visiting Bulldogs worked their way to a 5-0 lead by halftime as Chad Stalter connected just 36 into the first outing of the season for the Larries.

Stalter finished with two goals along with Wayne Cowan and Tyler Jones (1 assist) in the balanced attack.Zach Cowan broke through for the other goal. Nick Ashline, Seth Young and Brennan Secore each drew a pair of assists.

First-year senior Tyler Kowalchuk spoiled Chateaugay’s bid for the shutout when he finished off a play set up by Brody Simonds in his the varsity soccer debut for both players.

Josh Trombley and Austin Green combined to make three saves sharing crease duties for the Bulldogs while Hadyn St. Hiliare logged 24 stops for the Larries.

SRF 1, N-N 0: At St. Regis Falls, Virawat Tansirikongkhon scored from Louis Goodrow five minutes into the second half and the Saints made it stand as the game-winner.

Mike Smith had 16 saves backstopping the shutout while Garrett Waite handled 16 shots for the Flyers.
