Norfolk woman charged with using stolen debit card to buy cigs, Playstation

GRAND LARCENY - MASSENA - Village police charged Emily M. Lashomb, 21, of 55 West Main St., Apt. 2, Norfolk, with fourth-degree grand larceny, two counts of second-degree forgery and two counts of petit larceny at 3:21 p.m. Tuesday at the Massena Walmart store.

Lashomb, an associate at Walmart prior to her termination Tuesday, reportedly used a debit card left at the store by a 75-year-old customer on Sept. 5 and used it on two separate occasions that day to purchase items.

She reportedly initially used the card to purchase two packages of cigarettes and a lighter. She later purchased a Playstation 3, Playstation 3 controllers and two Playstation games with the debit card. The merchandise was valued at $424.84.

Norma McGregor told police she had been unsuccessful swiping her debit card so she gave it to the associate, who reportedly failed to return it to her. Walmart loss prevention associates told police a review of video showed Lashomb had taken debit card from the card reader and placed it next to her register. Moments later she reportedly placed the card in her pant’s pocket.

She was arraigned by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson and released under the supervision of the probation department.
