POTSDAM - Hundreds of National Grid customers around St. Lawrence County were without power Wednesday night as bands of thunder storms moved through the area starting at 8 p.m.

National Grid reported at 10 p.m. Wednesday they had 614 customers without power in St. Lawrence County and 1,184 customers in the dark in Franklin County with fire departments continuing to respond to reports of downed trees and utility poles and transformer fires around the area.

There were reports of scattered power outages in the Potsdam, West Parishville, Brasher, North Lawrence and Moira areas.

Meanwhile, Morristown fire, with mutual aid from a host of departments from Gouverneur to Lisbon, responded to a report of a fully engulfed barn fire shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday at 483 Gilmour Road.
