Running off 86 offensive plays to Canton’s 27, the OFA junior varsity football team opened its season with a 32-0 win over Canton on Friday.

The Devil JV’s, who host Potsdam on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., scored 12 points in the second quarter and 20 in the fourth quarter and received defensive sparks from Dallas Ashley who intercepted a pass, recovered a fumble and delivered three tackles; Austin VanGorden who collected a game-high nine tackles, Nathaniel Dufore who intercepted a pass to go along with five tackles, Avery Love who intercepted a pass and Jack Kelly who recovered a fumble.

Quarterback Adam Rickett proved to be a catalyst on offense rushing for 98 yards with a 25-yard touchdown jaunt and passing (7x23-1-112) for 112 yards with a 37-yard touchdown pass to Austin VanGorden.

Eddie Newcombe (16-59) scored on runs of five and 20 yards, Avery Love tallied on a two-yard run and Anthony Pope ran for a two-point conversion.

Other rushing contributions came from: Jarred Barr 14-73, Allen Smithers 6-32 and Austin VanGorden 1-8.

Connor Badlam caught three passes for 30 yards and Kevin Joanette, Avery Love (17 yards) and Pope (7 yards) all had one catch. Other tackling contributions came from: Newcombe (2), Barr (3) with a sack, Zach Worden (2), Adam Bouchey (1), Nick Valcour (3), Joanette (1), Rickett (2), Chase (2) and Love (2).
