Royal S. Lawrence


Waddington— Royal S. Lawrence, 83 of Brookview Drive Waddington, passed away unexpectedly (September 9, 2013) Monday morning at his home. A graveside service will take place at the convenience of the family.

Royal was born in Louisville, NY on August 4, 1930 to the late Melvin and Elvena (Wright) Lawrence. He graduated from Madrid Waddington School and began working at ALCOA. Royal later enlisted into the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict and was Honorably Discharged. Upon his return home, he began working once again at Alcoa where he retired as Quality Assurance Manager in 1985 after 36 years.

Royal married his love of his life, Jane Post on at September 22, 1951. He is survived by his children Russell A. and wife Faye C., Steven R. and wife Nancy, Roy W. and wife Dawn all of Waddington, NY. His grandchildren Wade G.Lawrence, Rylee Jane Lawrence and Delanie Lawrence also of Waddington, also surviving Royal are his step grandchildren Ashley and Jessica Cole. Two brothers Melvin Ronald Lawrence of San Diego, CA; Roger Lawrence of Waddington; sisters Vada Tiffany of New Jersey, and Virginia Lawrence of Rochester, NY; nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Waddington American Legion Post # 420. Royal also enjoyed boating on the St. Lawrence River, snowmobiling in the winter and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Memorial contributions can be made in Royal’s honor to the Waddington Volunteer Rescue Squad; 48 Maple Street, Waddington, NY 13694.
