MASSENA - It’s every musician’s dream to take their music to the next level. For Singer-Songwriter Shawn Stoddard each and every vote could make that dream a reality.

Hailing from Massena, Stoddard is currently entered in two contests - Converse-Guitar Center’s Get Out of the Garage and The Texaco Country Showdown Songwriting Contest. Both contests need fans to vote, view, and share Shawn Stoddard’s music in order for him to have a shot to win one or both of these contests.

“I am blessed to have had lots of local and national support thus far,” said Stoddard. “Without the fans, there would be no local music. I am hoping that all my fans will view, vote, and share my music so that I can represent the north country in one or both of these contests.”

In the first contest, Guitar Center & Converse are giving one band/musician the opportunity of a lifetime. The winner will record with Dev Hynes of Blood Orange at the Rubber Tracks Studio in Brooklyn, receive $25,000 cash, a slot at The FADER Fort in Austin, Texas, tons of new gear, and worldwide distribution of their music from TuneCore. Fans can cast their vote for Stoddard once a day until Oct. 9.

“The support from all my fans, family, and friends is what made me decide to enter these two contests,” said Stoddard. “I appreciate every vote, view, and share that I receive. Thank you to everybody in advance for their support.”

In the second contest, the Texaco Country Showdown Songwriting Contest, the winner will have their name and song featured on countryshowdown.com as a rotating banner on the title page for a 30-day time frame, be featured as part of the monthly song list on “ Showdown Internet Radio,” and have the right to compete in the final round of competition in November where an esteemed panel of songwriting greats will choose from the previous several month’s worth of monthly winners to determine the Grand Prize Winner. That person also gets $5,000.00, tickets to the Country Showdown National Final where their song will be announced. In addition, the winner will receive one business day of free music business/songwriting consultation with Tom-Leis Music. Registered users can vote for Stoddard once per day until the contest is over on Sept. 30.

“For both contests, I submitted my newest song, ‘Now She’s Gone,’ which debuted on 95.3 The Wolf back in July,” said Stoddard. “I received great feedback from the Friends of the Den, so I decided that would be the song to push with both of these contests.”

Stoddard currently donates all song sales to charity with 50 percent going to Love Hope Strength and the other 50 percent going to the Fender Music Foundation. If he is victorious in one or both of these contests, he plans to donate a portion of the proceeds to charity.

“I am very fortunate to be able to have a profession that I love,” said Stoddard. “By donating a portion of the proceeds to Love Hope Strength and The Fender Music Foundation, I will be able to give the gift of music to somebody else and maybe even save a life.”
