MORRISTOWN - A fire at 483 Gilmour Rd, Morristown, was contained to one barn complex by fire crews by 11 p.m. Wednesday.
The fire started during a thunderstorm Wednesday night between 9:30 and 10 p.m. but the cause of the blaze is not yet known. Morristown Fire Department chief Kevin J Crosby said the barn was full of hay which made it difficult to put out.
When we got here fire was coming out of both ends of the barn,Mr. Crosby said. Obviously the barn is a complete loss.
Were on full defensive mode, Mr Crosby said, meaning that crews were working to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings.
Fire departments from Morristown, Brier Hill, Gouverneur, Lisbon, Heuvelton and Hammond were on the scene.
Mr Crosby said there were no injuries as of 11 p.m. Wednesday.
We plan on keeping it that way, he said.
