Thank you for scrimmage help

Thank You For Scrimmage Help

To the Editor:

On behalf of the members of the Ogdensburg Free Academy Varsity Football team and coaches, I would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincerest thanks and appreciation to everyone who made it possible for OFA to host such an amazingly successful scrimmage on Saturday, August 31, 2013.

First and foremost, thank you to the Franklin Academy, Immaculate Heart Central, and Indian River Varsity football teams, players, and coaches who traveled to participate in this annual scrimmage. We also appreciate all the parents, family members, and spectators who took the time to come and support these teams. OFA has a long-standing tradition of hosting this event; we are proud and honored to do so, and look forward to future competitions at the “Home of the Blue Devils”.

Secondly, to the Ogdensburg Kiwanis Organization, a community service group dedicated to the positive growth and development of the young members of our community, we would like to reverently acknowledge Larry Mitchell for the extremely generous charitable donation of refreshments. They graciously donated several cases of water and all of the refreshments (hot dogs, hot dog buns and condiments) to feed all of the participants of this massive event. We are extremely honored and grateful for this organization’s involvement and participation. Without their help, the event would not have been such a huge success.

Next, to Terrell’s Potato Chip Company, Inc., we thank them for the generous charitable donation of two (2) boxes of 100 individual/portion packs of delicious potato chips. Local business involvement and support is paramount; key components vital to the ability for us to organize, present, and celebrate these types of community-wide sporting events. I also want to publicly acknowledge and personally thank Jack Terrell for his commitment and willingness to help us in this endeavor.

In addition, to the Block O Booster Club, an organization that encourages and supports community participation in athletics through financial support not provided by the normal budgetary process, we would like to thank them for the extremely generous charitable donation of paper products, plastic utensils, table cloths, and enough bottles of Gatorade to rehydrate all of the participants of this tremendous event. In addition, the “Man Power” this organization provided to assist with the facilitation of feeding such a large group of participants, so efficiently; is respected, greatly valued, and above all, truly appreciated. Each and every single member truly went above and beyond to make certain that all of the participants were well-fed and taken care of. We are extremely fortunate that such a well-respected organization consistently supports all of our OFA Interscholastic Athletic Programs.

Finally, a few other groups, who without their help, the event would not have been so successful, include: OFA Maintenance, Dome Staff, Game Officials, and the OFA Cheerleading squad. As always, the OFA staff did a terrific job efficiently organizing and setting up the field and facility in preparation to resourcefully accommodate the enormous amount of participants. The officials were available during several rounds of the scrimmage; their time and expertise were invaluable. Several members of the OFA Cheerleading squad, along with their coach Jackie Pinkerton, graciously volunteered their time Saturday afternoon and did an amazing job demonstrating their team support and school spirit; by helping prepare lunch for the teams/participants, they were an amazing asset to the celebration of the successful completion of this sporting event.

We are extremely honored and grateful for everyone’s involvement and eagerness to lend their support to the “Blue Devils”; your time and efforts are to be commended. The kindness and generosity displayed by so many helped provide the highest standard of quality; benefiting and promoting the healthy competitive nature of our nation’s future leaders.
