LOWVILLE — A third legislative race has been decided in Lewis County, after the Conservative party has decided to leave its line blank with no candidate in legislative District 4, which encompasses the town of New Bremen.

Bryan D. Moser defeated Thomas J. Schantz 122-35 in Tuesday’s GOP primary. The two men tied 1-1 in a Conservative primary. Since there were no absentee ballots in the Conservative race, it was up to state officials from that party to decide which candidate would hold that line in November. Mr. Schantz now holds no lines in November’s election ballot, leaving Mr. Moser as the sole candidate in November. John O. Boyd, D-New Bremen, declined to run again.

Tuesday’s results also removed candidates in District 1 and District 3. Legislator Philip C. Hathway, R-Harrisville, defeated Jeffrey T. Christman in a Republican primary 61-26, and Craig P. Brennan defeated Gerald S. Snyder 153-99.

Neither Mr. Christman nor Mr. Snyder holds another party line, so their names will not appear on the general election ballot.
