Indian River troupe at Edinburgh Fringe festival

Two students in the Indian River High School Drama Club, Keoni Kadaraitis and Nikki Marshall, along with theater teacher Kristie L. Fuller and American Sign Language interpreter Michelle Maphey traveled to Scotland in August to attend the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the largest arts festival in the world. The students performed ‘Graceland’ by Ellen Byron. The group also spent three days in London. Above, Keoni, left, and Nikki pause during a tour of the Globe Theatre, where they also attended an acting workshop.

At right, Nikki and Keoni perform a segment of ‘Graceland’ on the Edinburgh Royale Mile at the festival to promote it as Ms. Maphey shadow interprets.

In addition to performing ‘Graceland’ four times at the festival, the students also were invited to perform the show at the Braidburn School for Special Needs in Edinburgh.

Nikki is a senior at Indian River and Keoni, who graduated in June, plans to attend college next year.
