Rain to unveil three-point plan to improve DA’s Office

CANTON – The primary races hae been decided, the caucuses have been held and the children are back in school.

And now it is time for the race for the district’s attorney race to get interesting,

Republican candidate Mary Rain announced late Tuesday night she will unveil her three-point plan for improving the St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office during a noon Wednesday news conference at the County Courthouse, 48 Court St. Ms. Rain said she has support from several homicide victims’ families who are still seeking justice and want change in the District Attorney’s Office.

The Ogdensburg Republican is challenging two-term incumbent District Attorney Nicole M. Duve, Potsdam.

“Our current district attorney has created a culture of disorganization and disengagement within her office,” said Rain. “Tardy prosecutions and lax plea deals have put criminals back on our streets while victims are denied justice. My opponent blames everyone but herself for these failures. I’m running to bring back

accountability to an office that has run far too long without it.”

Rain said she drew on her three decades of experience as a police officer, prosecutor and defense attorney to create an agenda that can be implemented on day one. It will include a renewed focus on timely prosecutions, technology upgrades and improved communication with law enforcement partners.

“Victims of crime in St. Lawrence County have suffered for far too long because of my opponent’s mismanagement,” said Rain. “I am working hard to get elected so that I can help bring the D.A.’s office into the 21 century - and give deserved justice to the victims and their families.”
