MONTAGUE — Lewis County authorities on Friday recovered another 147 marijuana plants, this time on four sites on state forest land in the town of Montague.

The plants, estimated to have a collective weight of 400 pounds and a street value in excess of $100,000, were harvested and backpacked out in a collaboration of the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department and state forest rangers, according to a department release.

The investigation is continuing, and anyone with information on these or any other suspected growing sites is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 376-3511 or the state Department of Environmental Conservation field office in Dadville at 376-3521.

A couple of weeks ago, more than 200 pot plants were harvested from woods in the towns of West Turin and Croghan.
