DEXTER The Board of Education here didnt waste any time setting its goals for the 2013-14 school year.
After the 2012-13 board faced criticism after its members adopted its goals halfway into the school year, the current six-member board got to work right away. The 2013-14 goals, approved 5-0 at the August monthly meeting, will be used as a segue into Superintendent Cammy J. Morrisons objectives as leader of the General Brown Central School District. Were hoping to have a clear and concise document to share so itll be easily read and understood, she said.
The board goals, which are posted on the district website, are listed below:
n Academic Achievement provide challenging and relevant programs for all students to maximize individual learning opportunities, academic growth and personal development.
n Effective Communication and Collaboration build a culture of collaboration and transparent communication within the school community.
n Effective Use of Resources align financial and personnel resources to maximize educational achievement and fiscal stability within the district.
n Safe and Secure Environment provide a safe, secure and positive atmosphere conducive to teaching and learning.
n Highly Qualified Personnel promote and maintain a philosophy of high expectations and professional accountability for all employees.
The feel of them is just awesome, board member Jamie Lee said during the August meeting.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Morrison said she is still working toward completing her superintendent objectives.
