NORFOLK – Mr. James I. Murphy, 67, 2009 Sober Street, tragically passed away Tuesday evening, September 17, 2013 from injuries he received following a car accident.

Jim was born July 29, 1946 in Mount Vernon, New York the son of the late Eunice Campbell Brynildsen. On July 30, 1988, he married Lori A. Porter at her parent’s camp in Madrid. While living in New York, Jim was a jewelry designer. He later went to work for Walmart, where he was a department manager. After a car accident 17 years ago, he became disabled from the injuries he sustained. Jim enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking, and watching cooking shows on television. He had recently started to play golf.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lori; his children, Shawn Murphy and his companion, Ashley Gast of Norwood, Brandon Murphy of Norfolk; and James, Deborah, Pearl and Rebecca Murphy; his grandson, Riley Murphy; two sisters, Shellie Singleton of Hermon and Pearl Alexander of Chase Mills; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Eunice; his brother, Robert; and his sister, Lee Matthews.

Friends may call Monday 2-4 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where a funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 4:00 PM with family friend, Brendon Hardy, officiating.
