Assemblyman Kenneth D. Blankenbush, R-Black River, is partnering with Assemblyman Anthony J. Brindisi, D-Utica, to have Career and Technical Education diplomas count the same as a Regents diploma, according to a news release.

“We have to rethink how we prepare our kids for the workforce, and technical career paths must be included in these discussions,” Mr. Blankenbush said in the release.

He cited a limited pool of employees for skills such as welding, plumbing and electrical work as a reason to support what he calls the “21st Century Education Initiative.”
