Lodene O.O’Brian


Funeral services for Lodene O. O’Brian, age 82 of Lisbon NY, will be held 11:00am on Monday (Sept 23) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith & Rev. Michael Boehm co-officiating. Burial will follow the service at White Church Cemetery in Lisbon.

Calling hours will be held Sunday (Sept 22) from 3:00 – 7:00pm at the funeral home. Mrs. O’Brian passed away Thursday (Sept 19, 2013) at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Surviving are two sons David & Elaine O’Brian, Christopher & Rebecca O’Brian all of Lisbon; four daughters Nancy & Don Merkley of Lisbon, Cherie & Dean Rogers of Hammond, Rebecca & Tim Dishaw and Suzanne O’Brian & her companion John Lacombe all of Lisbon; grandchildren Mackenzie & Chris Palmer, Brian & Michelle O’Brian, Stephanie & Scott Wilhelm, Stacie & Mark Bennett, Heather & John Tamburello, Sara & Ryan Polniak, Adam Merkley, Ryan Merkley, Ben & Lucy Merkley and Bradly Rogers; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband Theodore “Teddy” O’Brian and four sisters Una Stuhldreher, Helen Flack-Purser, Mary Puccia and Evelyn Lang.

Lodene was born on December 5, 1930 in Lisbon, NY a daughter of the late Homer & Blanche (Hargrave) Speer. She graduated from Lisbon High School and married Theodore W. O’Brian on Oct 11, 1950. Lodene assisted her husband with the operations of the family farm and provided home healthcare for area families for many years. She enjoyed cooking, canning, pickling, gardening, playing cards, reading and especially spending time with her family.
