Watertown boxing club claims four titles

The Watertown Area Boxing Club took home four champions from six bouts in Saturday night’s fifth annual Carmen Basilio Quest for Champions event at the Watertown Fairgrounds’ exhibition hall.

The WABC’s Joshua Brown won his fight against Mo Zhang of the Den Boxing Club in Utica in a second-round knockout. Rubin Almonte, Kamel James and Tyrell Taylor each won by decision.

Taylor claimed a three-round decision against Francisco Vargas of the Syracuse Golden Gloves Boxing Club and won the fighter of the night award during the 15-bout card.

Almonte beat Dillon Donnait of the Kingston (Ontario) Boxing Club. James decisioned Albert Tully of the Gouverneur Boxing Club.

The WABC’s Ernest Richardson lost in the third round by technical knockout against former Watertown High School athlete Jake Bohn of CNY Boxing. Daniel Munford of the WABC lost by decision to Michael Ross of the Ithaca Boxing Club.
