MASSENA: Charles F. LaChance, 85 of Hammill Road, passed away on Sunday Sept. 22, 2013 at St. Regis Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born on June 4, 1928 in St. Regis Falls NY, the son of Frederick and Ruby (Wells) LaChance. On July 25, 1959 he married Maude Vallance at Holy Cross Church in Hopkinton, NY. Mrs. LaChance predeceased him on March 11, 2013. Charles was employed at Reynolds Metals as a mechanic, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Massena Grande Lodge, member of ABGWIY Local 450. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Charles is survived by his eight adoring children: Fred LaChance of Massena, Beth Lorquet of Texas, Lisa Young of Massena, Ruby Christine O’Leary of MA, Richard LaChance of Massena, Gilbert LaChance of Massena, Trudy Callahan of Massena, Tina LaChance Domey of Corning NY, a daughter in-law Lisa LaChance, three son in-laws John Callahan, Jeffrey Domey, Jeffrey Young and seven grandchildren, Kadi Schantz, Timothy and Jonathan Lorquet, Erin, Mathew and Annie O’Leary, Hannah Callahan and Ethan Domey; and a sister, Phyllis LaChance of Massena, several nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by a two sisters; Beverly Arquette and Beluah Rivers. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made out to the Loyal Order of the Moose. Friends and family may call on Thursday Sept. 26, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews St. Massena. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday Sept. 27, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at The Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Joe Elliott presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery following the service. Arrangements are under the care of the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.
