Massena, OFA highlight Week 4 High School Football action

OGDENSBURG - Massena and Potsdam will look to stay unbeaten while St. Lawrence Central seeks to break into the win column for the first time this season as Week 4 of Northern Athletic Conference football gets underway this afternoon at Brasher Falls.

Massena (3-0) at Ogdensburg (3-0): (Friday 7 p.m) The Raiders haven’t had a lot of success versus OFA in recent years, last winning in 2005, but this year’s Massena contingent has outscored its opponents 108-38 over three games including last week’s 40-26 victory at St. Lawrence Central.

J.P. Reagan leads all NAC rushers with 597 yards on 47 carries with nine touchdowns, averging a whopping 12.7 yards-per-carry, while Isaiah Dillabough has added 168 yards on 21 totes for Massena. Quarterback Rory Corcoran ranks 4th among NAC passers, having completed 14-of-36 passes for 217 yards with four touchdowns.

OFA features quarterback Josh Liebstein who ranks second in the league in passing, having completed 23-of-37 aerials for 280 yards and five touchdowns. Liebstein has also rushed for another 173 yards and on the other side of the ball, has made eight tackles. However, his status for tonight’s game is uncertain after he suffered an injury in last week’s win over Tupper Lake.

Potsdam (3-0) at Malone (1-2): (Saturday 1:30 p.m.) The Sandstoners, currently in a three-way tie with Massena and OFA for first place in the NAC, lead the NAC with 158 points and are tied with Massena and OFA with the fewest points allowed at 38.

O’den Robertson ranks second in the NAC in rushing with 472 yards on 50 carries (9.4 yards-per-carry) while Chase Palmer has added another 185 yards for coach Jim Kirka’s team. Will Coleman has completed 7-of-13 passes for 49 yards with two touchdowns while Jacob Bryant has made all seven receptions and had added six tackles for the Stoners.

For the Huskies, Camron Gallagher has passed for 122 yards while Cody Smith and Zach Raymond have combined to rush for 304 more.

Canton (0-3) at SLC (0-3): (Friday 4:30 p.m.) The Larries and Bears rank 1-2 in most points allowed and both would dearly covet a victory this afternoon on Randy Riggs Field.

SLC features two solid rushers in Mike Plante (30 rushes for 276 yards) and David Plante (38 rushes for 173 yards) who has also caught nine passes for 160 yards while also making eight tackles. Quarterback Mike Burns is rated third in passing in the NAC, having completed 14-of-42 aerials for 222 yards and two touchdowns.

For Canton, quarterback Hunter Yerdon has rushed for 172 yards and passed for 191 more while feature back Peyton Vanbibber has rushed for 171 yards.

In one other NAC contest on Saturday, Tupper Lake is at Gouverneur in a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
