To The Editor:
As a Lisbon Town Council candidate I went to the Lisbon Town Council meeting on Sept. 12 to ask if we could use the Town Hall as a public forum. Lisbon Supervisor Jim Armstrong told me it was unusable because it was full of furniture. This building has stood since 1889; for it to be used as a storage shed is disrespectful. The amount of events that have been in that building has been tremendous.
I walked around the town of Lisbon getting petitions signed during Homecoming. I asked people how they felt about the Town Hall not being able to be in use. I got complaints from citizens saying this is a useful building and they want to see it in use again. They did tell me that they heard that the building could not be used due to the lack of handicap access. Jim never mentioned that when I asked him if it could be used. Lack of maintenance was all I could see on the ramp. No rotting wood or broken railings were seen by my observation. It could easily hold a wheelchair.
It is my goal to serve the people of Lisbon and bring their concerns to the board in a prompt, courteous fashion. If unavailable, I will return your calls immediately. For this and any questions concerning my campaign you can reach me at 854-0261.
As far as I can tell, the town wants their building back (and a whole lot more); not this storage shed they have turned it into.

candidate for Lisbon Town Council
