MASSENA—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will continue its free “Friday Matinees” in October with showings of classic and contemporary movies at the St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Hydroelectric Power Plant’s admission-free Frank S. McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center and Boat Launch in Massena.

Every Friday in October, NYPA will show the scheduled movies at 1:30 p.m. in the visitorscenter auditorium. Free popcorn will be provided.

The movie schedule for October is:

Oct. 4: “You Lucky Dog” (2010). When a metropolitan working woman returns to her hometown, she discovers the town’s cattle ranching heritage has fallen on tough economic times and her own family ranch is struggling.

Oct. 11: “The Bouquet” (2013). Two estranged sisters torn apart by their differences suddenly find themselves working together at their parent’s struggling florist business.

Oct 18: “After All These Years” (2013). A woman works to clear her name after she discovers her husband’s dead body and becomes the number one suspect in a murder investigation.

Oct. 25: “Smart Cookies” (2012). A high-maintenance realtor forced to do community service must lead a group of hopeless girl scouts in the regional cookie drive competition.

Visitors can also sample the array of hands-on exhibits at the Hawkins Point facility, which presents information on such subjects as water power and NYPA’s St. Lawrence-FDR Power Project. Visitors will also be sure to enjoy the panoramic views of the power dam. The Visitors Center will remain open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week through Columbus Day. During the off-season, the Visitors Center will be open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For more information, please call the visitors center at (315) 764-0226 ext. 302 or visit NYPA on the Web at www.nypa.gov.
