The Potsdam Central and Salmon River varsity girls soccer team posted contrasting wins while Massena fell short to Canton in the NAC Central Division matchups on Thursday.

Potsdam 6, Norwood-Norfolk 0: In Norfolk, the Lady Sandstoners got off to a fast start when Annette Rishe converted on a cross into the area from the right wing by Kalie Grant just 55 seconds into the game and that stood as the only goal of the first half.

The same combination struck again in the first minute of the second half and the Lady Sandstoners went on to add four more unanswered goals after the break in raising their overall record to 9-0-1 and division mark to 7-0-1.

Grant went on to add a goal to her two assists while Kayla Phillips set up a goal by Paige McCabe with six minutes left in regulation then closed out the scoring two minutes later with an unassisted goal. Savarah Aidun connected for the fourth Potsdam goal in the fourth minute while Emma Frary and Ally Miller each logged solo helpers over the course of the win.

Bre Sapp made four saves in posting her 10th shutout in as many games this season while Meg Plumb turned in a scrappy 26-save performance working the Lady Flyer crease.

The Lady Sandstoners will now get set to host Salmon River on Monday while N-N (0-9, 0-8) is slated to play at Gouverneur.

Salmon River 1, OFA 0: In Fort Covington, Becca Leroux converted off an assist from Miranda David midway through the first half and the Lady Shamrocks made it stand for the win.

Wraven Sunday handled the 10 shots she faced to earn the shutout as Salmon River improved to 3-7 overall and 3-5 in the division.

Jordyn Marcellus had 15 stops for the Lady Blue Devils (2-8, 2-7).

Canton 3, Massena 1: At Roger Dusharm Field, the host Lady Bears (7-3, 5-3) worked their way to a 2-0 halftime lead then held off a steady wave of Lady Raider pressure in the second half before walking off with the win.

Emma Collins opened the scoring off an assist from Emily Pinckney in the 24th minute of the game before Bailey Hurlbut converted from Tori Daley eight minutes later for what would hold up as the game-winner.

The Lady Raiders broke through for their only goal in the fourth minute of the second half when Iastha Porter finished off a play set up by Serena Hall but Canton regained its two-goal lead just over two minutes later when Kali Frank struck off an assist from Mary Kate Mace.

Katie Clemmer made six of her nine saves after the break in backstopping the win while Bailey Young fielded four shots for the Lady Raiders (4-5, 3-5).

Massena is slated to play at Franklin Academy on Monday.

WEST DIVISION

NAC West Division varsity girls soccer action on Thursday saw Heuvelton blank Lisbon 4-0 and Edwards-Knox turn back Harrisville 1-0 while Hammond drew a forfeit win from Clifton-Fine, which reportedly will no longer field a team for the rest of the season.

BOYS SOCCER

In the only NAC boys soccer matchup Thursday, Kody Mulverhill netted the first two goals of the game and Isai Paredones tallied the third as Franklin Academy posted a 3-0 interdivisional win on the road over Chateaugay.

Austin Lamay made seven saves in posting the shutout while Josh Trombley stopped 12 shots in the loss.
