CARTHAGE — The Augustinian Academy Craft Fair will return Saturday after several years on hiatus.

“It’s all handmade local crafts,” said Sarah Graham, event coordinator. There’s “a wide variety of products, something for everyone and every age.”

Ms. Graham operates SEWsational Sarah and will be selling handmade clothing items at the fair. The fair will offer clothing, photography, maple products, jewelry, pet items, children’s items, quilts, candles, accessories and holiday items.

“I’m going to have some quilted items, table runners and stuff like that,” said Jeanette Turner of Sew What Quilts and Reflections. “I also do handmade Christmas stockings and I’ll have my embroidery machine on site where I can embroider names on the stockings.”

“We just tore down an old barn on our property so my husband is making crafts out of the old barn wood,” said Mary E. Harding of RE — Re-used, Re-purposed and Re-invented. “Wine racks, coat racks and all kinds of things.”

Mrs. Harding and her husband, Robert J., whose son attends the academy, said they would like to see the event support the school.

“I do oils on canvas so I will have mostly those,” said Nicole Smith of Artistic Reflections Studios. “They are everything from landscapes to figure paintings of various people. I specialize for the most part in horses and a lot of animals.”

Ms. Smith has been painting for more than 15 years, but has been selling her products for only the past two years. She anticipates selling Christmas cards at the fair, as well.

The fair was not held in recent years because of a struggle organizing the event and finding a chairperson.

The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Augustinian Academy gymnasium, 317 West St. About 30 vendors are expected to attend with a variety of specialties.

Students will be selling food as part of a fundraiser for the academy. There is no cost for admission.
