Exterior painting at Pierrepont Museum delayed until spring

To The Editor:

Due to unfortunate circumstances, the exterior painting of the Pierrepont museum has been delayed until next spring. The two new doors and locks were installed earlier this year.

Special thanks go to our volunteers, Paul Allen and Dawn Kimble, for repairing the water damaged ceiling. Donation money is growing slowly and will eventually be used for the painting of the building.

Meanwhile, your historian hasn’t been sitting idle. The many old scrapbooks donated by Pierrepont residents, holding births, marriages and obituaries, dating as far back as 1890’s have been transcribed and indexed for easy accessibility in researching families. I found these to be very informative as well as interesting.

My thanks go to Mary Tupper White and Andrew Tupper, John McIntosh, Bill Mousaw and Lyle Vanderberg for your recent donations, and know how much these are appreciated. The picture frames donated are already being used. Thank you, Joann Cyr. If I have inadvertently missed anyone, I apologize because all donations are greatly valued.

The museum will be closing as cooler weather approaches and will re-open in May, 2014. I can still be reached at (315) 379-0804 or at should you with an appointment while warm weather is with us. I look forward to seeing you.
