Soccer roundup: Thousand Islands girls take FL ‘C’ Division crown

BEAVER FALLS — Morgan Robbins scored two goals, including a penalty kick, and assisted another as the Thousand Islands girls soccer team blanked Beaver River, 3-0, to clinch the Frontier League “C” Division title on Thursday.

Kerstin Phelps tallied a goal and goalkeeper Aliceson Cornaire made 15 saves for the Vikings (11-2-0).

Mariah Abel stopped three shots for the Beavers (6-4-3).

BOYS SOCCER

WATERTOWN 3, INDIAN RIVER 2

Kenny Schimpf set up a pair of goals and Noah Taylor made six saves as the host Cyclones capped off an unbeaten league season with an “A” Division victory over the Warriors.

Tyrell Thomas tallied a goal and an assist for Watertown (13-0-1), while Brad McKinney and Matt Olney each added a goal.

Junior Malinoski and Kyle Barker scored for Indian River (10-3).

GENERAL BROWN 2, SOUTH JEFFERSON 1

Ryan Sheridan scored twice, including converting on a penalty kick to deliver the game- winner in the second half, to pace the Lions to a “B” Division victory in Adams.

Ryan Lamon made five saves to register the win for General Brown (7-7-1, 6-7-1).

After Sheridan tallied an unassisted goal in the first half, Dylan Estal tied the game for the Spartans (3-11, 3-10) at 1-1 with an goal in the 47th minute. Fourteen seconds later, Sheridan then scored the go-ahead goal.

COPENHAGEN 4, LYME 0

Antonio Figueroa scored twice as the Golden Knights stayed unbeaten with a “D” Division shutout of the Indians (11-3, 9-3) in Chaumont.

Brenden Jacobs scored a goal and assisted on another while Caleb Hatch tacked on a score for Copenhagen (13-0, 12-0).

ALEXANDRIA 4, BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 0

Jordan VanBrocklin scored a pair of consecutive goals and assisted on another to spark the Purple Ghosts to a “D” Division triumph in Belleville.

Nik Shangraw contributed a goal and an assist for Alexandria (8-6, 6-6).

Anthony Bennett made 10 saves to record the shutout, and Tristan Thomson also scored a goal. Eli Merced finished with 12 saves for the Panthers (0-12).

IHC 2, LOWVILLE 0

Chris Rowland’s direct-kick goal in the 38th minute helped the Cavaliers to a crossover win against the Red Raiders (6-8-1, 6-7-1)in Lowville.

Jake Fusilli scored after being set up by brother Jude Fusilli for Immaculate Heart Central (11-2-1).

CARTHAGE 5, SANDY CREEK/PULASKI 2

Brodie Woodward tallied three consecutive goals as the Comets wrapped up the regular season with a crossover win over Sandy Creek/Pulaski in Carthage.

Nate Kepler and Devin Lajoie supplied goals for Carthage (3-11). Leo Phillips and Reis Harding scored for Sandy Creek/Pulaski (0-14).
