Heuvelton boys gain quality victory

HEUVELTON - The improvement of Heuvelton Central in the second half of the NAC West Boys Soccer season moved to the next level on Friday.

The Bulldogs (3-6-2 NAC West, 4-7-2) moved up from the moral victory stage by scoring a quality 1-0 overtime victory over Edwards-Knox.

“We have been playing much better soccer in the second half of the season. It has been the whole team picking things up,” said HCS Coach David Steele.

“We have played in three overtime games this season and we played very well in a 1-0 overtime loss to Morristown. Today we put it all together and scored a high quality win. The guys are improving and now we are looking to convert much better.”

Joe McDonnell scored the only goal of the game with 2:18 remaining in the first overtime by taking a pass from Dylan Liscum and burying a shot from the left wing.

Zach Lashomb handled 12 saves in a 100-minute shutout and Rich Finnerty stopped eight shots for E-K (5-5 West, 6-5).
