William F. Willard


Funeral services for William F. Willard, age 78, of Heuvelton, will be held on Monaday, October 14 2013 at St. Raphael Parish in Heuvelton at 3;30pm with Father Kevin O’Brien officiating. Burial will be in Purmort Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 14, 2013 at Frary Funeral Home on 515 Caroline Street at 1:00 to 3:00PM. Mr. Willard passed away on Friday morning, October 11, 2013 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center.

Mr. Willard is survived by his wife, Eleanor ; five daughters, Deborah and Rick McCarty of Degrasse, Wanda Willard of Rochester, Linda and David Wilson of Hammond, Sandy and Larry Ewart of Ogdensburg, Norma Adams and her husband, Philip, of Waddington; two sons, William and his companion Orenda Murray of Pyrites, NY, and Brian of Heuvelton; four brothers, Robert and James (Jim) both of Heuvelton, Charles and Carol of Mississippi and Walter and his companion Kathy McPherson of Rensselaer Falls, fifteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Laura Self in 1995; a son, Edward, in infancy; three brothers; Tom, Donald and Leonard; and a sister, Nina Borgeson.

Mr. Willard was born on August 14, 1935 in De Peyster, the son of Walter and Emma June Pike Willard. William had attended local schools in the local area and then went on to join the United State Marine Corps where he was honorably discharged and received the Congressional Medal of Honor. He married Eleanor Cardinal on June 15, 1957 with Rev. A.D. Charbonneau officiating at the Notre Dame Church. After William left the marines he then went on to work for Diamond and JD Downing Company and then retired from St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center where he worked in the Maintenance Department.

William enjoyed carving wood, woodworking, welding, cooking hunting and fishing.
