Eggleston honored with Lifetime Achievement Award


CANTON - Marcia Eggleston was presented with the New York Library Association Lifetime Achievement Award by Carol Anne Germain, the 2012-13 New York Library Association (NYLA) president, at the NYLA Annual Conference Awards Banquet.

Mrs. Eggleston was awarded the NYLA Lifetime Achievement Award for her dedication and work on behalf of NYLA/SSL and the profession. In addition, the Section of School Librarians (a division of NYLA), established a scholarship in her name for someone to attend the annual Education Leadership conference.

Mrs. Eggleston began working at St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES in 2011 as the director of the School Library System and supervisor of the Learning Resources Center.

Prior to joining BOCES, she worked as the school library media specialist at Norwood-Norfolk Central School for 26 years. Prior to that, she worked for two years at Chateaugay Central.

In addition, she has served in many capacities for NYLA including the president of NYLA, the Region IV representative for the School Library Media Section of NYLA, numerous positions including president for the Northern Area School Library Media Specialists, and on several committees for NYLA.

Mrs. Eggleston holds a Masters of Library Science from SUNY Albany as well as a school administration certificate from St. Lawrence University.
