Massena girls volleyball gains sweep at home over BMC


MASSENA - The Massena Central varsity girls volleyball team swept past NAC East Division rival Brushton-Moira on its homecourt Wednesday night.

Jacalyn Lamica anchored a balanced effort as the Lady Raiders won by scores of 25-16, 25-23, 25-9. Lamica tallied 12 service points and three assists while Katelynn Malone fashioned 10 points and four kills. Samanntha Villnave tallied six points while working the net for five kills and three blocks. Sabrina Sunday also had a strong game up front, notching six kills and three blocks as Massena improved to 4-4 in the division and 6-6 overall.

In the other two NAC East Division matches Wednesday, Chateaugay stopped Salmon River in four sets and Franklin Academy swept Tupper Lake (25-17, 25-14, 25-10).

Chateaugay 3, Salmon River 1: in Chateaugay, the Lady Shamrocks won the third set 25-20 after dropping the first two 25-12, 25-6 before the Lady Bulldogs (13-0, 7-0) regrouped to take the fourth 25-9.

Raven Oakes led Salmon River (8-6, 4-4) with 15 service points and four kills.
