Funeral services for George H. Nugent, age 70, of Franklin Street, will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Frary Funeral Home, on 515 Caroline Street. DeconDavid Sandburg will be doing the funeral.Calling hours will be held from 1:00 to 3:00PM before the funeral services on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Frary Funeral Home. Mr. Nugent passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 15, 2013.George is survived by his wife, Linda; three sons, Michael and his wife, Holly, of Mesa, AZ, Kevin and his wife, Amy, of Ogdensburg, Patrick and his wife, Hope, of Bristol, Virginia; one daughter, Kelly and her husband, Mark Fowler, of Syracuse; one brother, Fredrick and his wife, Karen, of Hagerstown, Maryland; one sister, Ida and her husband, Timothy Maloney, of Watertown and twelve grandchildren. He is predeceased by one brother, Thomas.George was born on March 30, 1943, Buffalo, NY, the son of Arthur and Edith Abbott Nugent. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy. George went on to join the United States Marines and served in combat during the Vietnam War, he was honorably discharged in 1969. Mr. Nugent went to school at Potsdam State where he earned a Masters Degree in teaching. He married Linda Jobin on November 9, 1969 at St. Henry Parish with Father Howard Gosier officiating. He then taught elementary school from 1973 -2003 at Heuvelton Central School.He enjoyed his camp on the river and spending time with his children and grandchildren.Donations may be made in his memory to Indian Creek Nature Center at PO BOX 286 Canton, NY 13617.Online condolences may be made at www.fraryfuneralhome.com/obituaries.
