OFA JV girls win

Charity began at home for the OFA Girls Junior Varsity Soccer Team on Monday.

Before posting a 6-0 victory over Madrid-Waddington at Kennedy School, all the Lady Devils presented a pair of pajamas to teammate Abby Marshall. In 2009 Abby and her sister, Camille Marshall, started and maintain a program called PJs For Christmas, a non-profit organization from kids to kids, which provides pajamas for needy children at Christmas in St. Lawrence County and other counties.

This year’s goal is 2000 pairs of pajamas and anyone wishing to contribute can make contact on line at or on facebook at pjs4xmas.

“All of the girls brought a pair of pajamas and it was a complete surprise to Abby,” said OFA Coach Renee Tebo.

“It was such a nice gesture and this is such a fine group of girls to work with.”

The Devil JVs then matched the quality of their generosity, on the field, using a series of nice crosses to set up goals against a hustling Yellowjacket squad.

In the first half, left wing Kiera Johnson scored unassisted by dribbling down the field from left wing and sending a hard and low shot into the net.

Early In the second half, right wing Sarah Bracy scored off a well placed cross from Johnson. Left wing Natalie McCormick scored on a cross from Erin Tooley to make it 3-0.

A few minutes later McCormick scored again after Sarah Bracy crossed the ball from right wing. After center Lexi Kennedy’s shot was deflected, Erin Tooley one touched the rebound and put the ball in the net for the fifth goal.

Stopper Jill Lincoln ran in on a loose ball outside the 18 and sent a high shot in the top of the net to round out the contest’s scoring.

Keeper Alicia Garcia had eight saves in net backed by Kelsey Pinkerton, Natalie Ryan and Ashley Barr who controlled the midfield and Maggie Peo, Jadienne Averill, and Lexi Kennedy who anchored the defense.
