Wilson E. “Slim” Kendall

Funeral services for Wilson E. “Slim” Kendall, age 96 of Ogdensburg will be held on Thursday (Oct 24, 2013) at 4:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Lay Reader Larry Caufield from St. John’s Episcopal Church officiating.

Calling hours will also be held on Thursday from 2:00pm until the time of the funeral. Mr. Kendall passed away at the Riverledge Healthcare Facility on Sunday (Oct 20, 2013) surrounded by his family.

Surviving are his children Kenneth & Sandra Kendall of Ogdensburg, Richard & Ann Kendall of Sayre PA, Gary & Christy Kendall of Ashville NC, Penny Lawton, Sally Fisher, Linda Lovely, Deborah McLear & her companion Gary Richards, Alicia & Doug Besaw, Tina Kendall & her fiancÚ Keith Renaud and Patricia Kendall & her companion Kenny Casselman all of Ogdensburg; 35 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren; a brother Hubert Kendall; and sister Maxine Dillard both from IN. Predeceasing him were his wife Shirley in 1986, a son Robert Kendall in 1981 and a daughter Susan Lovely in 2008 along with ten brothers & sisters.

Wilson was born on December 26, 1916 in Peoria, IN a son of the late George L. & Loretta J. (Ford) Kendall. He attended schools in Indiana and married Shirley Wicks in 1944. He enlisted in the US Army from1941 - 1945 during the Battle of Normandy. During his career he was employed by Dodd’s Dairy for 37 years as a milk man, Bastas Flowers, California Fruit Market, Mike’s Deli and Bennett’s Food Store. Wilson enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, fishing, bowling, poker and playing with his grandchildren. He was a member of The Ogdensburg Kiwanis and Umpired Seaway Slow Pitch for several years.
