There will be a memorial service held for Richard Bacilieri at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building located at 284 Andrews St. in Massena on Saturday, October 26th at 10 am. Immediately following, there will be a graveside service at Brookdale Cemetery. All of his friends and those who knew him are welcome to come and pay their respects.
Richard, known as Rich to his friends, was an intelligent and well-educated man who loved photography in his youth, and lived and traveled all around the world.
He regularly enjoyed having a good meal out with his friends and seeing the occasional movie with them, as well as a nice cold glass of chocolate milk or soda. He was fond of animals and had several pets in his lifetime, and often took the time to feed the squirrels with peanuts.
He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and was very faithful in serving his church as a Gospel Principles teacher, home-teacher, and generally helping out whenever he could. He also looked forward to attending the various activities, baptisms, and social gatherings.
He frequently listened to the local NPR radio, particularly the Wait, Wait Dont Tell Me show, and he was so happy to have gone to see it live at the Roxy theater in Potsdam last year.
Rich was a private person, but to those who were fortunate enough to take the time to get to know him, they found the heart and generosity underneath- in addition to a really good sense of humor. He taught his closest friends the meaning of perseverance, tolerance, and forgiveness, as well as how to cook an excellent steak on the grill! :)
Rich passed away on September 30 at the age of 67, due to complications from his quadruple bypass surgery. Those that loved him are grateful to the staff at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Vermont for the top-notch care they provided while he stayed there.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and we will miss him and remember him fondly till we meet again.
