The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a lake-effect snow watch for Lewis County, particularly over the Tug Hill region.
The watch, in effect from late tonight through Thursday evening, states that 5 to 9 inches of snow could accumulate in higher elevations.
Snow may produce difficult travel across the higher terrain of the Tug Hill and western foothills of the Adirondacks, the warning says. The heavy, wet nature of the snow may also produce some minor tree damage and scattered power outages.
It adds that there remains some uncertainty about temperatures and precipitation type, which will have a significant impact on potential accumulations. The full National Weather Service is at http://wdt.me/H3pZMm.
