CANTON — St. Lawrence County Highway Superintendent Toby W. Bogart handed in his resignation Tuesday. His last day will be Nov. 8.

He is leaving for another job, said County Administrator Karen M. St. Hilaire. She referred questions to Mr. Bogart, who was unavailable for comment. He has been superintendent since Dec. 24, 2011. Previously, he had been the department’s senior civil engineer.

Mr. Bogart’s departure means the county will be looking for four department heads. In addition to Mr. Bogart, Public Health Director Susan J. Hathaway retired in August and Emergency Services Director Joseph M. Gilbert resigned in September to run against U.S. Rep. William L. Owens, D-Plattsburgh. Probation Director Edward C. Gauthier also is planning to retire, Ms. St. Hilaire said.
