Massena girls swim past Salmon River


FORT COVINGTON - The Massena Central varsity girls swim team surged to a 75-19 decision on the road over Salmon River in the lone NAC meet staged on Wednesday.

Seven different swimmers scored individual wins for the Lady Raiders (9-2), who placed first in all but one race. Makenzie LaBrake captured the 200 freestyle in 2:28.07, Courtnee Stowell the 200Im in 2:52.61, Emily Hurlbut the 50 freestyle in 28.73 seconds, Abby Elman the 100 butterfly in 1:16.32, Kalie Peets the 100 freestyle in 1:06.08, Taylor Brault the 500 freestyle in 6:37.49 and Sydney Lewis the 100 backstroke in 1:16.29.

Stowell, Elman and Lewis combined with Allison Dix to pace the 200 medley relay in 2:16.5. The quartet of Lewis, Hurlbut, Savannah Hays and Baylee Carroll led the 200 freestyle relay in 1:54.55 while the team of Brault, Lewis, Peets and Hurlbut captured the 400 freestyle relay in 4:21.67.

Lauren Martin paced the 100 breaststroke in 1:28.6 to account for the lone win produced by the Lady Shamrocks (2-8).
