City police charged a 16-year-old on Thursday night after he allegedly pointed and shot a BB gun in the direction of two other teenagers.

Jaylaen J. Crockett, of 1136 Superior St., allegedly used his replica M14 assault rifle airsoft BB gun at the 400 block of Broadway Avenue East, scaring the two other teenagers.

He also allegedly ran from police after being told to stop. He was charged at 7:25 p.m. on the 300 block of South Rutland Street with two counts of second-degree menacing, fourth-degree possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of second-degree obstruction of governmental administration. Taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, he was later released with an appearance ticket for City Court.

At the time of Mr. Crockett’s arrest, a woman, Georgia C. Griffin, 39, same address, arrived at the scene, shouting at police and demanding that Jaylaen be released, causing police to not be able to complete steps in their investigation.

Told she was under arrest, Ms. Griffin also allegedly pulled away from officers handcuffing her. She was charged at 7:44 p.m. with second-degree obstruction of government administration and resisting arrest and was later released with an appearance ticket for City Court.
