High school soccer: Harrisville, Morristown advance

POTSDAM — The Section 10 Class D boys soccer championship will be decided among a pair of Northern Athletic Conference West Division teams as both Harrisville and Morristown claimed 1-0 semifinal victories Tuesday night at Potsdam High School.

The second-seeded Pirates (15-1-2 overall) will meet No. 5 Morristown (13-3) in the championship game at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at Potsdam High School.

Harrisville beat Morristown 4-2 and 4-0 during the regular season.

HARRISVILLE 1, CHATEAUGAY 0

Tim Fowler scored the game-winning goal just two minutes, 36 seconds into the game to send the Pirates past the Bulldogs (13-4-1) in the first semifinal.

Fowler took a pass from Jared Dreythaler and beat Bulldogs goalie Josh Trombley with a low shot to the right corner of the net.

Pirates goalie Zane Mono made four saves for the shutout.

MORRISTOWN 1, HEUVELTON 0

J.R. Richards scored in the 73rd minute to give the Green Rockets the win over the No. 9 Bulldogs (6-10-3). Richards had been playing defense for Morristown but moved up after teammate Ryan Vollmer was injured in a collision with a Heuvelton player.

Luke King made seven saves for the shutout.
