OGDENSBURG — An Ogdensburg man who wasn’t doing anything wrong until he fled in his car from U.S. Border Patrol agents who wanted to question him about his activity outside a Route 37 business in June was jailed for five months after the incident on misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and fleeing officers.

Edward J. Trimm, 40, of 801 Elizabeth St., was arrested on a warrant Nov. 5. But his problems began June 16 when Border Patrol agents attempted to stop him after seeing him and another man going in and out of a garage next to Simple Pleasures Hair Salon at about midnight. Mr. Trimm drove away with the agents in pursuit, then stopped the car and fled on foot into the woods near the United Helpers building on Route 37.

The passenger he left in the car told the agents that he and Mr. Trimm owned the garage they were questioning him about, and that he fled because he had a suspended driver’s license, state police said.

Patrols were unable to locate Mr. Trimm at the time of the June incident and had a warrant for his arrest issued from Oswegatchie Town Court on June 27.

When police finally found him outside his home in November, Mr. Trimm again ran away but was caught a few blocks away on Jersey Avenue.

Mr. Trimm was arraigned in Oswegatchie Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond. His next court appearance is Nov. 20.
