John W. Sivak, III Born: 4/27/1953 Passed Unexpectedly: 10/29/2013 Survived by: His wife of 23 years, Karen Roehl-Sivak, his father, John W. Sivak, Jr., a sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Walter Hadala, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Deborah Roehl and Kevin Cronin, several cousins, a niece, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews. Predeceased by: His mother, Phoebe P. Sivak, his brother, Stephen M. Sivak, John was a 22 year resident of Novato, CA. He graduated from Massena Central High School in 1971. He graduated from Clarkson College, Potsdam, NY in 1975, with a degree in economics and shortly after moved to the Bay Area. In San Francisco, John worked for the Pacific Stock Exchange and as an options trader. His time in the securities industry included a year in Amsterdam, the Netherlands working at the gold exchange. His love of food, people, and drink recently led him to Trader Joe’s in San Rafael, CA where his enthusiasm and insights on cooking and life were enjoyed by all he met. John loved music and was a natural drummer. Throughout school, he played in a band called “The Brass Five.” He and his wife Karen enjoyed exploring new places, particularly wine country. John was a fantastic cook and loved preparing and serving meals to Karen, family, and friends. Undeniably genuine and a straight shooter, he will be sorely missed by everyone he touched.
