ENDICOTT Section 4 champion Chenango Forks scored four consecutive touchdowns over the second and third quarters to pull away and eventually beat Section 3 champ General Brown, 35-18, in Saturdays Class C state football quarterfinals at Ty Cobb Stadium.
After Chenango Forks scored first, the Lions (9-2) responded with a 19-yard TD pass from Evan Will to Ryan Cumberbatch to pull within 7-6 late in the first quarter. But Chenango Forks (10-1) responded in the second quarter with three touchdowns to take a 35-6 halftime lead.
Quarterback J.C. Sweeney hit Zach Ziegenfus for two scores, while C.J. Watson rushed for a 39-yard touchdown and then returned a punt 68 yards for a third-quarter score for the Blue Devils. Isaiah Zimmer also scored on a 28-yard run and ran for 178 yards on 29 carries for Chenango Forks.
General Brown scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns, one on a 26-yard pass from Zech Pitre to Jared Christopher, and the other on a 12-yard run by Joe Pitre.
Zech Pitre finished with 92 rushing yards on 16 carries for General Brown.
